While in London last week we spent a fair amount of time browsing for a quintessentially British book to bring back for our budding bookworm. We flipped through our fair share of Beatrix Potter, Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, and, of course, A. A. Milne.
On a morning stroll down a street lined with antiquarian bookshops, we ducked into a store specializing in vintage children's literature. Whether because I was surrounded by classic children's literature in the perfect cozy environment to enjoy it, or because we had an entire morning to do nothing but explore, I was utterly enchanted.
This quote from Milne's much beloved bear perfectly captured my mood in that moment, and I was grateful to be able to stop and appreciate it. At the same time, however, I also recognized my tendency to let such opportunities for joy slip through the cracks as I rush from one thing to the next. We shouldn't need to be on vacation to acknowledge the small pleasures that come our way. Can you pause and absorb the beautiful bits of life that have the power to make today your favorite day?
