Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to work with a group of lovely women who are nearing the end of an advanced teacher training program. The group is as diverse in their backgrounds as they are in their goals for the training and life. Their age range spans two decades. They hail from the West Coast to the East coast and points between. Some will leave their careers to embrace the teaching path full time. Others will continue to utilize teaching as a welcome reprieve from the intense demands of their professional lives. Their commonality lies solely in this shared piece of their respective journeys.
Not one of these women envisioned themselves teaching yoga when they set out to find their way in the world, but each allowed themselves to be open to learning new things, challenging their point of view, and starting again with a beginner's mind.
We are not all created to be teachers or ambassadors of yoga or anything else, but we all benefit from entertaining new possibilities. Are you feeling stuck in a role or relationship? Do you need a fresh start? Try something different. Allow yourself to be startled. Be open to new experiences. And use what you learn to create a life that brings you joy and makes you proud.
