The weather in DC was incredibly beautiful this weekend - and much appreciated by the city's snow-weary residents. I was eager to get - and stay - outside for ANY reason.
While taking the babe for a stroll through our neighborhood, we spotted countless signs for open houses. For the sake of context, you should probably know my husband LOVES real estate. He is intrigued by architecture, fascinated by finishings, and curious about cost. Whether the property is a multi-million dollar penthouse with irrigated plants on the wrap-around veranda, or a stuffy studio in the basement, he could spend entire days seeing what the market has to offer.
While my husband can see new ideas and possibilities inside every doorway, my more practical side doesn't have much interest in house-hunting unless we are actively planning to make a move, which we are not... But something about the sun-filled afternoon and the joy of motion caused me to agree when he suggested we take a few detours through the properties on our street. We had fun imagining ourselves in each of the homes and filing away ideas for a future dream home. And as the afternoon wore on, I found myself looking eagerly for the next place to explore.
Sometimes the tightly-wound, agenda-driven Type-As among us can benefit by letting someone else take the wheel. If you set your plans aside and went along for the ride what might you discover?
